Product Description
A packed extraction column is a liquid-liquid extraction device composed of a column body, packing, feed and discharge systems, upper and lower oil-water separators, a column mounting base, and an electrical control system. The inner diameter and height of the column, as well as the type of packing, are custom-designed and selected based on the client's process materials. Packing is a crucial component of the extraction column, as it increases the contact area between the light and heavy phases, thereby improving extraction efficiency. Commonly used packing includes ring-shaped packing, spherical packing, and mesh packing, among others.
During the extraction operation, the light phase (the feed liquid with lower density) is introduced from the bottom of the column, while the heavy phase (the feed liquid with higher density) is introduced from the top. The two phases flow countercurrently through the column, coming into contact and transferring mass along the surface of the packing to complete the extraction process. The packing layer not only facilitates the continuous coalescence and redispersion of droplets to promote surface renewal but also helps reduce axial backmixing.
